The Red Sea is famous for its clear, warm waters – an open water aquarium with stunning reefs and fascinating sea life.
The Red Sea remains at an unusually constant temperature all year round, averaging 22 degrees C in the summer months. You can find superb visibility of up to 50 metres, rich and diverse sea-life, with over 1,000 species, and more than 250 species of coral, 8% of which are endemic. Add to this the spectacular range of dive sites including wall sites plunging dramatically to the ocean floor and fascinating shipwreck sites, including the famous WW2 ship SS Thistlegorm, and you can see why Red Sea diving holidays are so popular with scuba divers from all over the world.
The Red Sea reefs are a haven for fish and you will find many rare species here. Away from the reefs you may encounter hammerhead or leopard sharks or even an oceanic whitetip shark or a whale shark – sure to be a highlight of your Red Sea diving holiday.
Other species of sealife you may come across include: sea anemone and clownfish, barracuda, puffer fish, tuna, grouper, java moray eel, unicorn fish, blue-spotted stingray, lionfish, crocodilefish

Hurghada
Hurghada is world-famous for its diving with coral, turtles and dophins, moray eels, tuna and more – not forgetting the wreck graveyard at Sha'ab Abu Nuhas.
Dive sites in Hurghada include:
Gota Abu Ramada, a network of coral gardens perfect for beginners; the reef of Sha’ab Ruhr Umm Gamar; Small Giftun, a spectacular site for more experienced divers; Carless Reef, with its two coral towers, inhabited by friendly giant moray eels.
El Gouna
The calm waters surrounding El Gouna are a great place for beginners and more experienced divers will love the range of reefs, walls and wrecks. It has stunning coral gardens and is home to bottlenose dolphins.
Dive sites in El Gouna include:
The ship graveyard of Abu Nuhas with its four fascinating wrecks; Dolphin House, in Sha’ab el Erg, home to the bottlenose dophins; the remote wreck of the SS Rosalie Muller; Sha’ab Ruhr Umm Gamar, a challenge for experienced divers.
Soma Bay
Soma Bay offers a wide choice of dive sites for novices and more experienced divers alike. You can dive from the jetty to explore the stunning fringing coral reef or take a boat to explore the sites farther afield.
Dive sites in Soma Bay include:
The long, narrow reef of Abu Qifan renowned for its sightings of hammerhead and manta rays; Panorama Reef, with its beautiful grottos and overhangs; Abu Soma, the peninsula surrounded by a fringing reef, rich with fish, giant moray eels and coral.
