7 nights Nile Cruise + 7 nights Red Sea
This is a classic combination - in many ways it is the ideal holiday combining the full 7 night Nile Cruise with an equal amount of time relaxing in one of the stunning resorts of the Red Sea.
1. Monday (Luxor)
Fly to Luxor with a direct charter flight from the UK.
Arrive in Luxor and transfer to your chosen Nile boat.
2. Tuesday (West Bank)
After breakfast leave by coach for the West Bank to visit two or three of the stunning tombs in the Valley of the Kings and at least two more in the Valley of the Queens. Continue to the Temple of Hatshepsut, the only woman to reign as a Pharaoh, and the Colossi of Memnon, a pair of enormous statues, which once guarded the mortuary temple of Amenophis III.
3. Wednesday (Temple of Horus)
After breakfast visit to Temple of Horus, the falcon God, whose battle with his evil uncle, Seth, is told in vivid pictures inscribed on its walls. In the afternoon sail via Kom Ombo to Aswan.
4. Thursday (Aswan)
After breakfast visit the High Dam, the construction of which was finished in 1971, creating Lake Nasser, the world’s largest reservoir. See the ancient granite quarries and the Unfinished Obelisk before continuing to the Island of Philae, with its stunning Temple of Isis.
After lunch sail on the Nile in a traditional felucca to visit the beautiful botanical gardens of Kitchener’s Island.
5. Friday (Abu Simbel)
Optional excursion to Abu Simbel with its magnificent Temples dedicated to Ramses II and Queen Nefertari. Optional evening excursion to Sound & Light Show at the Temple of Isis at Philae.
6. Saturday (Kom Ombo).
After breakfast, sail to Kom Ombo to visit the temple dedicated to the two gods, Haroeris and Sobek, the crocodile Nile god.
7. Sunday (Luxor & Karnak Temples)
After breakfast, visit the most magnificent of the Nile temples, the stunning Temple of Karnak, constructed over a vast area during a period of some 1300 years. An avenue of Sphinxes links this temple to the Temple of Luxor, the next stop on your itinerary, with its remarkably well-preserved reliefs. Optional excursion to Sound & Light Show at Karnak Temple.
8. Monday (Red Sea)
Breakfast followed by disembarkation and transfer by air-conditioned car from Luxor to your chosen Red Sea resort. This is the perfect opportunity to relax after some serious sightseeing, soak up the sun and enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches and clear turquoise seas. If you choose you can make the most of the many activities on offer in the Red Sea such as watersports, diving, and, in some resorts, kite-surfing and golf.
Days 11 - 14. Tuesday - Sunday (Red Sea)
At leisure.
15. Monday (Return to UK)
Transfer back by air-conditioned car from Red Sea to Luxor for your return direct charter flight to the UK. (Flying via Cairo to Luxor and returning from Hurghada via Cairo to the UK with Egypt Air is available on a request basis)
