A rarity amongst 36 hole complexes, The Pasha course at Antalya Golf Club offers almost as exciting a challenge as its senior partner, The Sultan. Shorter in length and more generous from the tee, golfers could be forgiven for assuming that the course lacks any defence. However, golfers adept to the subtleties and nuances of golf will relish the tactical battle.

Antalya Golf Club just oozes quality and class from the moment you drive through the gate. The Sultan course is the more demanding of the two courses in this 36-hole complex, placing a premium on both length and accuracy with water coming into play on eleven holes and with nearly 100 bunkers to avoid. Most golf architects prefer to ease the players into their round, not so David Jones. The first shot of the day being one of the most demanding of the round, with water to carry off the tee which continues around both the left and right sides of the fairway making it almost an island! The course is superbly constructed with undulating, contoured and rolling fairways giving the course almost a links feel. There are, however, numerous pine and eucalyptus trees to circumnavigate.

Most courses normally only have one signature hole and it is a testament to the design of The Sultan that it has several! Two of the best come towards the end of the round, the 16th, a long par 5 with a lake extending along the entire right hand side of the fairway and even in front of the green. Lastly, but definitely by no means least, the spectacular 18th requires a drive over a lake, the carry dependent on how brave you feel. Should your drive have landed on terra firma a long, accurate second shot avoiding the water on both sides of the fairway is required to reach the green and will ask questions of even the most experienced golfer. The Sultan is one of the very best courses that you will ever wish to play and is destined to become one of the top courses in Europe and surely a favourite with all who play it.
