Pine fringed fairways, cavernous bunkers and enormous lakes, are all the ingredients of a challenging golf course. Designed by French architect, Michel Gaydon, Gloria hosted its first major tour event within the first year of opening. Water is the defining obstacle on at least seven holes, most notably on the 7th, a par 5 with a lake bordering the entire left hand side beyond which is tucked the green. This beckons the long hitter to attempt the heroic carry to reach the green in two mighty blows. However, should the conventional three shot route be chosen the lake still has to be negotiated with a perfectly positioned pitch. Special mention must be made of Gloria's par 3 holes, three of which require tee shots over water and the other, the 17th, is flanked on the right by the River Acisu.
The nine hole Gloria Verde course, designed again by Michel Gaydon, is a carbon copy of the main 18 and is indeed often incorporated into the main course during times of maintenance. With a combination of tight tree -lined holes and spectacular shots over water, each hole has two sets of tees and the course even has its own clubhouse.
