The noble Nobilis course purveys parkland perfection but waits to penalise erroneously executed shots. At first glance golfers are goaded into false security by generous greens and fairways. But beware; danger lurks to sink unsuspecting players.
Designed by Dave Thomas of Belfry and San Roque fame, this course appears on the surface to be a gentle parkland course with wide, flat fairways, gigantic, undulating greens and little or no rough. Don't be fooled! The opening holes are long if straightforward and after a couple of less stringent holes the River Acisu comes into reckoning, adjacent to the left of holes 6 and 7. Lakes to the right of the fairway at driving distance and short left of the green place a definite premium on accuracy at the par 5 8th, followed by a substantial carry over water to reach the green at the par 3 9th. There is another lake waiting to snare an errant tee shot to the right of the 10th fairway and also a picturesque, babbling brook flowing along side the green and its approach. The same lake and brook form the major obstacle on the par 3 16th, a hole that requires a well-struck long iron to reach the putting surface. A magnificent Roman style clubhouse awaits to refresh and recuperate golfers whether it be in the bar with its ornate muraled ceiling or on the pine-shaded patio.
