Cesme holidays somehow still manage to feel like a discovery, despite this resort now welcoming a steady stream of international visitors. This lovely town has the 500 year old castle as its centre piece, a powerful symbol of Italian Renaissance mercantilism. The castle now houses an impressive archaeology museum with nautical exhibits, and it also has an art gallery during the summer months, a very worthwhile diversion during your holiday. The church built in 1832, also displays artwork and crafts during the summer months. And remember to look out for the Ottoman fountains scattered around town, commonly thought to have given Cesme, which means 'fountain' in Turkish, its name.

Café culture reigns supreme and life in Cesme carries on in a lively manner well after the sun sets, with an array of ice cream sellers and street hawkers adding to the almost carnival-like atmosphere. The main street leads to a central square which in the summer months, hosts a series of free, open-air concerts. If you enjoy the arts then Cesme holidays are unlikely to disappoint.

People often choose holidays to Cesme because of local attractions such as the hot springs at Ilica and the prime windsurfing on offer at nearby Alacati, however, Cesme itself also has plenty to recommend it.

One of our favourite Cesme hotels, the stunning Kanuni Kervansaray is just one of the many reasons why people choose to holiday here.

Dalyan Koy

If you want to be within easy reach of Cesme but in a quieter, away-from-it-all location, the charming fishing village of Dalyan Koy is a good option. Just 15 minutes away from Cesme, with a good dolmus service between the two resorts, this quaint village is a haven of peace and tranquility. Dalyan Koy's name means 'fishery' and this lovely place set on a harbour is still best known for its fish restaurants. There are a handful of shops and a post office but most people come here for laid-back beach holidays.

There is an excellent choice of beaches within an easy dolmus ride of both Cesme and Dalyan Koy, notably swanky beach clubs such as the stylish Aya Yorgi. Those who like a little variety while on holiday will be spoilt for choice! For a complete change of scenery during your holiday in Dalyan Koy, why not enjoy a day trip by boat to the neighbouring Greek island of Chios? Our Dalyan Koy and Cesme hotels make an excellent base for exploring this lovely and historic area of Turkey.
